DIRECTIONS TO THE PHILADELPHIA PRINT SHOP

Travelling: [ via PA Turnpike | from the Main Line | from Center City Philadelphia | from New Jersey | by Train ]

Exit the Pennsylvania Turnpike at Interchange 25/333 (Norristown), immediately after the toll bear right onto Germantown Pike East (toward Plymouth Meeting) heading towards Philadelphia. Germantown Pike is one of the oldest wagon roads into Philadelphia and prominent on all maps. Keep driving about five miles; the road becomes Germantown Avenue as you enter the City of Philadelphia (and the community of Chestnut Hill). Once you are driving on cobblestones and streetcar tracks, we will be at the intersection of Highland and Germantown Avenues, on the far left corner (about three blocks).
To avoid delays due to current construction on Route 309: Exit at Interchange 25/333 (Norristown) and follow the directions just above. When 309 expressway construction has been completed in 2009, exit the Pennsylvania Turnpike at Interchange 26/339 (Fort Washington), and get onto Route 309 South. After about three miles, exit at Paper Mill Road, bearing right at the bottom of the exit ramp. Follow Paper Mill Road as it winds along, until you go down a long hill and then back up the other side to the top of a ridge, where you will come to an intersection at Paper Mill Road, Stenton Avenue, and Bethlehem Pike. At that light, turn left onto Stenton Avenue, and the bear immediately right onto Bethlehem Pike. At the top of the hill, Bethlehem Pike ends at a light and you should merge left onto Germantown Avenue. We are two lights further along, at the corner of Highland and Germantown, on the far left corner.
Take Route I-476 (Blue Route), heading North. Exit for Germantown Pike East (turn right onto Germantown Pike). Germantown Pike is one of the oldest wagon roads into Philadelphia and prominent on all maps. Keep driving towards Philadelphia about five miles; the road becomes Germantown Avenue as you enter the City of Philadelphia (and the community of Chestnut Hill). Once you are driving on cobblestones and streetcar tracks, we will be at the intersection of Highland and Germantown Avenues, on the far left corner (about three blocks).
[Driving] Approaching the Philadelphia Museum of Art from the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, go around the right side of the Museum, following signs for Kelly Drive. Take Kelly Drive to its end (ca. 4 miles), where it runs into Lincoln Drive. Follow Lincoln Drive until it dead ends at Allens Lane (ca. 5 miles). Take a right onto Allens Lane, which dead ends at Germantown Avenue after four blocks. Turn left onto Germantown Avenue and proceed towards Chestnut Hill. We are about 2 miles up at Highland Avenue, on the near right corner. If you leave the cobblestones and trolley tracks, you have gone three blocks too far.
As of January 21, 2008, there is a detour on Germantown Avenue, which affects the directions just above. The detour is clearly marked at Germantown Avenue, but should you wish to avoid this area, you may follow this alternate route from Lincoln Drive: As you approach the Germantown Jewish Center on your left (just after the light at Carpenter Lane), prepare to make a left at the light at Emlen Street. Follow Emlen Street through 2 lights (Mount Pleasant Avenue and Allens Lane); the road becomes Cresheim Valley Drive. Take a left on Lincoln Drive and go to the second stop sign at Willow Grove Avenue. Make a right onto Willow Grove, and then left at the light at Germantown Avenue and continue to our shop at the corner of Highland Avenue.
[Public transportation] From Center City terminals take either Chestnut Hill West Local (R8) or the Chestnut Hill East Local (R7). Either train will take you to within two blocks of the shop. If travelling on the East Train, get off at Gravers Lane Station, walk up to Gravers Lane and turn left. Walk two blocks west to Germantown Avenue and turn right. We are at the end of the block on the right. If travelling on the West Train, get off at the last station and take the stairs (or path) to the street (Germantown Avenue). Turn right and walk one block south on Germantown Avenue. At Highland Avenue, we are on the far left corner.
From Northern New Jersey: Take the New Jersey Turnpike to the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and follow directions via I-276 above.
From Southern New Jersey: Take either the Benjamin Franklin Bridge to Westbound I-676 and continue onto I-76 West, or the Walt Whitman Bridge to I-76 West. Take I-76 (the Schuylkill Expressway) to the exit for Lincoln Drive. Follow Lincoln Drive to its dead end at Allens Lane (ca. 5 miles). Turn right onto Allens Lane, which dead ends at Germantown Avenue after four blocks. Turn left onto Germantown Avenue, and go about 2 miles to Highland Avenue, where our shop is located on the near right corner.
