These prints are by noted aquatint artist William Daniell and they were issued in Zoography; or, the Beauties of Nature Displayed,... by W. Wood. The accurate and detailed images portray the individual animals in their natural habitats. The prints were made by the elaborate aquatint process, which gives them the delicacy and subtlety of watercolors. Beautifully applied hand coloring enhances each scene, with subtle shadings in the sky, shadows and varyingly lush flora. A delightful group of handsomely portrayed exotic animals.
